Complaints Household Bank Credit
I went to a furniture store to buy some furniture.
The sales person had me fill out a loan application that was
denied. (no sunrise). The company then sent me a card that
I did not realize I had applied for with a credit limit of
$2000.00 and a 3.9% interest rate for the first 6 months.
And the ability to transfer higher interest card balances
to the lower interest rate.
Which I did. I transferred about $1559.00 worth
of credit card debt to the card and was delighted to cut up
5 credit cards. Today I went to WalMart and attempted to purchase
about 45.00 worth of stuff and the card was denied.
When I called the credit card company they said
that my credit limit was 1600.00 and that my interest rate
was 17.5% (some of the cards that I cut up the rate was not
that high.)

Another review of household bank credit
card
I once had a Household Bank credit card. The limit was only
$1000, so when I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, I decided
to hang onto this one. Within months I started receiving notices
that due to an unfavorable credit report, my APR was rising.
So rise it did ~ from 18.9% to 22% and finally all the way
up to 29.9%. So I started to pay them off and stop paying
those outrageous charges.
After a hot day at the racetrack, I took $600 of my $1400
winnings and sent it to Household. Within a week a notice
came saying my credit limit was decreased from $1000 to $400.
Angry as heck, since I needed the available credit for another
upcoming trip, I called and complained that they took advantage
of the $600 payoff and stressed how much I needed available
credit. I spoke with many employees and their supervisors
who obviously couldn?t care less. They even claimed the $600
payment had nothing to do with the decision. Now think about
it ~ how could they cut the limit unless I paid that out?
Another problem was that I had recently used the card just
before that notice which would put me over limit when they
got around to process it. A supervisor was gracious enough
to raise the limit $25 to cover that expense. She also suggested
I write a letter of discontent to the president of Household
as many ?good and faithful long term customers like me? were
so upset. I didn?t bother with that and decided I would payoff
the balance ASAP.
By October 2000, they were all paid off. I kept the card
for emergency purposes only. In December 2000, I received
a notice that my card would not be renewed come the following
January. GOOD RIDDANCE I SAY!
